Keith Duffy - Boyzone

Keith Duffy interview July 2007

This week I had the chance to talk to a gentleman who just happens to be part of one of the biggest bands evr to come out of Ireland, he also happens to be one of the most generous and likeable guys you can ever meet. He has starred on one of the longest running Television programs Coronation Street, he has toured the world with the band Boyzone selling out to thousands of fans across the globe, but behind it all he is a family man, a father, a husband and a man who cares enough to put his money and talent where his mouth is. As he was coming to Cork in July I spoke to him about his acting and how the current play is doing Dandelions.

We spoke about his family life and how his work has enabeled him to spend time with his family, We spoke about acting and of course we spoke about Boyzone and the romours about a big comeback tour. He gave advice to young bands singers starting off. Why not have a listen in for yourself using the link below.

July 22nd 2005 Keith said goodbye to the street to spend more time with his family. Towards the end of the year Keith took to the stage at the Olympia Theatre, Dublin in his first live theatre show playing the role of Damien in the Landmark Productions and MCD’s Production of Fiona Looney’s debut smash-hit play Dandelions. Keith was one of the four All Star cast which included Dawn Bradfield who’s best known for her leading roles in major theatre productions throughout Ireland. The production had a successful sell out run which lead to Dandelions seeing a triumph return to the stage in a second sell out run of the play in June 2006 followed by the production and cast going on tour which included a run in July at the Cork Opera House.

Desperate Housewives was the hit American series that turned the spotlight on domestic life State-side but an Irish play switches the focus to the characters’ Irish counterparts. Fiona Looney’s smash-hit debut, Dandelions, opens at Cork Opera House for a limited run only from July 11.

All four members of the all-star cast - Dawn Bradfield, Pauline McLynn, Deirdre O’Kane and Keith Duffy - return to take up the roles that won the hearts of Dublin audiences during the show’s sell-out run last year and are now poised to cast a spell over Munster theatregoers.

Over a long hot summer, secrets and hopes are revealed and it becomes clear that life will never be the same again for a group of neighbours. The plot focuses two stay-at-home mothers (Pauline McLynn and Deirdre O’Kane) whose lives are turned around when a couple Orla and Damien (Dawn Bradfield and Keith Duffy) move in next door. As things pan out, Damien turns out to be the love of Deirdre’s character’s life.
