This week I spoke with new singer songwriter Maggie Khiane on the upcoming launch of her new album which is to be Launched at Dublins Sugar Club, Maggie Keanes debut album Out To The World has been well received by critics and played by radio stations around the country. With overtones of Sinead OConnor and Annie Lennox, Maggie is an artist with universal appeal. The album displays Maggie's fine song writing capabilities with a blend of melodic contemporary tracks. Featured as Hot Press Pick of the Fortnight, Jackie Hayden refers to .."the rock-lite Better than Better. her breathy voice delivers a cheery tuneHappy Day is equally uplifting.a great chorus and Keanes falsetto voice is a real treat.Sweet Surrender shows she has an instinct for classy pop".


 The Evening Herald reviewed the album as "a big radio-friendly sounda flexible voice that moves easily from low jazzy flourishes to flute-like upper register chorusesan upbeat and ambitious collection of songs" and The Star paper spoke of Maggies magic .Maggie was recently featured as one of Irelands 50 most inspiring women in Prudence Magazine. Produced by Wayne Sheehy, Out to the World represents some of Irelands premier talent with artists such as Rob Malone on bass (David Gray), Conor Brady on guitar (Jerry Fish) and Bill Blackmore on Flugel Horn. Recorded in Grouse Lodge studios in , the album is distributed under independent label Cooleevin Records and is available from a variety of outlets and at www.maggiekhiane.com. Recent gigs have seen her opening for Damien Dempsey, Josh Ritter, Hazel OConnor and The Walls. Originally from Dublin, Maggie started singing on the Dublin circuit doing gigs in local venues with musicians such as Martin Black. After the birth of her daughter she began writing her own material, moving on to work with Donal Lunny, who produced her first single, Special. Joining forces with Andy McCluskey of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark she was vocalist on his album Universal. Maggie also featured on Noel Brazils album, The Land of Love. Previous single Luna was well received by Mojo Magazine, referring to "her breathy voice sprinkling moondust" over the musical arrangements. On stage Maggie is as comfortable singing unaccompanied known for her stunning opening capellos to low key acoustic and full band performances. Maggie is constantly writing new material and regularly escapes to the wilds of Donegal to compose. She is now working with new artists on a second album.
